The simple eye spot on single cell idea page 1 of 1

The idea of the beginning of life is that a single cell emerged when the planet earth cooled down a bit later and that cell acquired some sort of light receptors. It is described as being simple and then developed into more complex eyes. So a single cell sees a bit of light and then over time sees lots more detail. How it sees just a bit of light is stupendous on it’s own. That is a whole thing. It sees.

Doing just that would make our common sense wonder why it would need something like natural selection or mutations in genes etc when it already has the ability so see. It knew about the properties of light/ photons and electro magnetism and quantum mechanics and everything including gravity and time. It knew and could do whatever it wants to do.

We have to rely on a very few people to tell us that that is how it has happened.

And there are only a few. Mostly popular book writers who weave it into their first few lines and then give a further 300 pages of pure conjecture about the rest of life.

To use the idea that this first cell is so tiny and simple compared to a fully complex eye later on is misleading. Meaningless.

There is no evolution in not seeing to seeing. Same with all the other senses. Something can’t hear a bit in a physical body like a single cell the same size as a full stop on this page can see or hear or smell then there is no evolving in it. It sensed in one go. No natural selection or mutations in a body.

Compared to the size of the universe even if the single cell with eye spot is this full stop dot . Compare that . dot that is representing a single cell to an eye of this size O

Then compare both to size of universe. It makes no difference. The dot . can see. And so can the larger O

We ourselves/consciousness or whatever move the eyes. We can move this physical light sensing eye from left to right and up and down. Probly not correct to say it is light sensing as light hits it and signals are sent to brain then seeing occurs. Anyhow , are we using the brain to move them or are we a separate thing moving the eye. Much to think about. For now and just a thought , maybe the consciousness thing produced the eye for us to see. Lots of trickiness once again. Maybe a clue can be found in having a little think about it.
